Michel Chossudovsky
and his website
Global Research
Chossudovsky purports to be a Marxist but is
best known for spreading preposterous conspiracy theories, often in support of
Serbian nationalists and their war crimes. He has long been a denier of Serbian
genocide in Bosnia. Now he is a COVID-19 denier as well.
The
Canadian Broadcasting Corporation reports that his Global Research website
functions as a conduit for Russian-linked disinformation. Global Research
includes conspiracy theories such as the myth that the 9/11 attacks and COVID-19 pandemic were both planned in order
to control the population. The website also hosts articles experts have
attributed to a Russian spy agency. October 21, 2020
Chossudovsky has been an
official regular contributor to the Kremlin-sponsored Russia Today (RT) TV
as part of a network promoting pro-Russian ideas in the US and Canada.
Indefensible: A Challenge to Pseudo-Anti-Imperialism A book about the
lies of so-called anti-imperialist leftists who defend Vladimir Putin and Bashar
al-Assad, while endorsing Serbian aggression in Bosnia and Kosovo. Includes
reference
to
Michel Chossudovsky. Reviewed
by Frieda Afary (September 10, 2018), who writes:
Although NATO and the U.S. had mostly colluded with Milosevic’s ethnic
cleansing and only belatedly took military action against Serbia in the face
of a world outcry, leftists
like Michel Chossudovsky
attributed the war to NATO.
They claimed that “It was not president Milosevic but NATO that started the
war in Yugoslavia.” (p. 112) Even most of those leftists and socialists who
did not support Milosevic simply freed themselves of any responsibility for
taking sides and claimed that what was taking place in Bosnia-Herzegovina
and Kosovo was a “civil war” and not a struggle against genocide and ethnic
cleansing. In the words of Hensman, this “is the first time in the
post-Soviet world that such a clear convergence between neo-Stalinism and
neo-fascism is discernible.” (p. 116)
The Left
Revisionists An
extensive review of a broad array of those on the Left who downplay the violence
and suffering involved in the wars in the former Yugoslavia and shift the blame
to the Western alliance. Among those discussed is Michel Chossudovsky. By Marko Hoare, November 2003
